WHERE TO START

What Is An East African Safari?

A safari is simply a guided journey into wildlife country. In Kenya and Tanzania that means open plains, big skies and animals living exactly as they always have, watched from a vehicle with a guide who knows where to look.

Most trips run three to ten days and combine two or three parks. You sleep in tented camps or lodges, drive out early when animals are active, rest through the middle of the day and head out again in the late afternoon light.

How To Choose A Safari Operator

Check the TRA licence

Every legitimate Kenyan operator holds a Tourism Regulatory Authority licence. Ask for the number and verify it.

No full payment upfront

A deposit of 30 percent is normal. Anyone demanding the full amount before you travel is a warning sign.

A named person to talk to

You should know who is planning your trip and be able to reach them directly, not through a chatbot.

Written inclusions

Park fees, meals, transfers and vehicle type should be in writing before you pay anything.

Three to six months for the July to October peak, when the best camps fill early. Green season trips in April to June can often be arranged with a month’s notice.

Yes. The parks are well established and our guides are trained in safety procedures. Vehicles are licensed and inspected, and we only use vetted accommodation partners.

Park and reserve fees, a professional guide, 4×4 vehicle, accommodation and most meals, drinking water and airport transfers. International flights, visas, insurance, drinks and tips are extra.

Yes, and it is one of our most requested routes. We handle the border crossing at Isebania or the Namanga gate, and arrange the vehicle change on the Tanzanian side.

Neutral coloured layers, a warm fleece for early mornings, a hat, sunscreen, binoculars and a camera. Soft bags rather than hard suitcases if you are flying between parks.
