About This Kenya Classic Safari
If this is your first trip, the Kenya classic safari is the one we recommend. It links the four places that define a Kenyan safari in a sensible loop from Nairobi, with a full day in both Amboseli and the Masai Mara rather than just a drive through.
You start in Amboseli, where the snowmelt from Kilimanjaro feeds green swamps in the dry plains and draws some of the largest elephant herds in Africa. From there you drive to Lake Naivasha for a boat trip among the hippo, on to Lake Nakuru for rhino and flamingo, and finish with two nights in the Masai Mara.
It works all year. Between July and October the Mara days fall in the migration season, and from January to March Amboseli’s skies are at their clearest for views of the mountain.
