6 Days Gorillas and Chimpanzees Uganda

Drive west through Fort Portal to Kibale National Park, with the Rwenzori foothills on the horizon. Arrive in the late afternoon. Overnight near the forest.

Morning briefing then into the forest to track a habituated chimpanzee community, with success rates above ninety percent. One hour with them once found. In the afternoon, a guided walk in the community run Bigodi wetland for three more primate species and excellent birding.

Transfer south to Queen Elizabeth National Park through the crater lakes region. Afternoon boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel among one of the densest hippo populations in the world, with elephant and buffalo on the banks. Overnight in the park.

Morning game drive through the Ishasha sector in search of the tree climbing lions that rest in fig trees there, then continue south to Bwindi. Briefing on arrival for the following morning. Overnight at the forest edge.

Report at 07:30 for briefing and family allocation. The trek runs from two to eight hours through steep forest, followed by one hour with the gorillas. Porters available and recommended. Overnight at Bwindi.

The long drive back to Entebbe with a lunch stop, arriving in the evening for your onward flight.
