Kenya Visa Requirements For A Safari Trip

Kenya no longer issues tourist visas. Every visitor now needs an Electronic Travel Authorisation approved before boarding.

What replaced the visa

The eTA, applied for at etakenya.go.ke. It is required for every traveller including children and nationalities that were previously exempt.

Cost and timing

Around 30 US dollars plus a processing fee. Approval usually arrives within 72 hours but apply at least a week before you fly.

What you will need

A passport valid for at least six months with two blank pages, a passport photo, your return flight details and your first night accommodation.

Common reasons for refusal

A poor quality passport scan or details that do not match the passport exactly. Both are fixable by reapplying with corrected documents.

Yellow fever

Only required if you are arriving from a country with risk of transmission. Direct flights from Europe or North America do not require it, but transits through some African countries do.
