How Much Does A Kenya Safari Cost?

4 Sep 20261 min read

A straight answer with the numbers behind it, so you can judge whether a quote is fair before you commit.

The daily rate

Budget camping is roughly $150 to $220 per person per day. Mid range runs $250 to $400. Luxury sits at $450 to $800. Ultra luxury with fly-in transfers starts around $900.

What park fees actually cost

Masai Mara entry is $100 per adult per day in high season. Amboseli and Nakuru are around $70. Conservancy fees are additional. These are fixed government charges, identical whether you camp or stay in a luxury lodge.

Where the money actually goes

On a mid range seven day trip, expect roughly 35 percent to accommodation, 30 percent to park and conservancy fees, 25 percent to vehicle and guide and the remainder to meals and water.

How to reduce the cost without ruining the trip

Travel in the green season, share a vehicle, choose parks with lower entry fees and stay outside the reserve boundary. Cutting nights is usually a false economy.
