Kenya is where the word safari entered English, and it remains the easiest place in Africa to see a great deal of wildlife in a short time. Nairobi is well connected, the parks are close together and the tourism infrastructure has had a century to mature.
From July to October the Masai Mara holds the Great Migration. Outside those months the resident populations are still excellent, the parks are quieter and prices drop noticeably.

Kenya Safari, Key Questions
Kenya replaced visas with an Electronic Travel Authorisation. Apply at etakenya.go.ke before you fly, allow 72 hours and carry a passport valid for at least six months. Full detail is on our visa requirements page.
The herds are typically in the Masai Mara from late July through October. River crossings cannot be scheduled, but staying three or more nights near the Mara River considerably improves your chances.
The safari circuit is well established and generally trouble free. Our guides are trained in safety procedures, vehicles are licensed and inspected and we brief you on sensible precautions before you arrive.
Yellow fever is required if you are arriving from a country with risk of transmission. Malaria prophylaxis is strongly advised for most parks. Speak to a travel clinic six to eight weeks before you travel.
